Jacquard Lab

During my time studying at Schola Academy in Florence, Italy, there was an opportunity to be apart of a competitive design challenge. In collaboration with the company Jacquard Lab, a textile design studio combining cutting-edge technology with traditional craftsmanship to create high-quality bespoke fabrics,  we had to design fabric inspired off of the prompt Digital Arts and Crafts. Based on the Arts and Crafts movement in the late 19th century, the idea was not about rejecting modern technology, but about the creative integration of tradition and innovation. In the end, one of my classmates in the fashion design course won the fabric design project, and we went on as a group to collaborate and create the final garment. I was paired with a classmate to make the pants. She patterned the pants, and I sewed them. It was an incredible opportunity to learn how to collaborate and create something as a group!
